Power of Nature

IMG_5363

Yesterday evening, as I lay down still on my bed with my very sore body, I happened to move my head towards the large window of my room. There was sudden joy to see the open skies as the sun set. The shades of yellow and orange brushed across the canvas of sky.

There was something around me that was so joyful and positive. I took no time to hold my cell lying by my side to capture the view that enchanted my feelings and was magical. The next few minutes were spent admiring the sun rays that were sharp to make the nature so beautiful. I completely forgot my pain and I strongly feel it is the mind set we can change.

I am glad nature is so whimsical that can bring the positive energy within you, it can evoke your inner wellbeing that every human being is worth of. We all need to understand the power of nature. It brings the little joys that are in fact big. As you get closer to nature there is bonding of inner you and the peace you can find yourself in.

Healing Powers of Nature

DSC04820

We all know nature is beautiful. At some point of our life nature has stimulated an excitement within us either when we went for a walk or at the beach where the waves chanted; the snow clad gigantic mountains or the chirping birds perched on the tall trees; the elegant waterfalls; the vast sky with its changing colors; the shinning bright moon dancing with the twinkling stars or the smiling flowers in the flowerbeds.

Nature has its healing powers that brightens our senses even though it could be momentary when we are in its lap. As we get closer to it more often its reflections cast a greater shadow in our lives. Nature is pure that brings the wellness powers with in us.

Over the time I have learned the gifts of nature

When we are in lap of nature, we take a break from our busy lives that rejuvenates our minds.

We feel relaxed and calm that gives a break from our mechanical routines. At that moment we only want to enjoy the beauty that the nature is offering us.

Nature helps to relive the pain that may have been caused by a friend, co worker or a family member.

We develop a positive attitude when we start to spend more time with nature.

Nature renders us happiness as we can feel good about ourselves. We realize our spirit uplifted with peace devoid of anxiety.

It gives us the opportunity to appreciate the joys around you, even in little forms like the opening flower bud or the crashing waves by the rocks.

I get close to nature by going for walks with my family, sitting close to the pond surrounded by trees, driving in the country side, running outdoors, going for a hike, vacation by the ocean, driving to the mountains, gardening or keeping flowers in vases.

No wonder why I enjoy nature and want to spend more time in its lap !!!

Inspiration that connects to your inner core of happiness

Twining vines of grape brings in the structural magic of romance. For me the immediate inspiration to paint comes from the happiness that connects to the core rather than just random picking of brushes. From my daily 6 paintings, one of them I chose to paint a grape vine from picture that I took in Venice along the Grande Canal.

The beauty  of the green leaves, their shapes and bunch of grapes made it so attractive for me to paint. Somehow plants make me smile and I have been academically connected with them. It also reminded me of grape vines in my childhood home. How happy I would be seeing the vines climb the wooden supports and pluck grapes with my siblings and parents. There would be buckets full of harvest that would also be shared with friends and neighbors delightfully. While painting a subject most artists like to bring their own vision into it. So did I will painting.

It is fortunate when you can recognize the beauty for your strength and joy.

Get inspired and inspire others. Stay Joyful !

Painting Nature Is A Vision For Inner Well Being

Why do I paint nature ?

Painting nature is not simply talking about the surroundings around. For me it is more to do with my inner well being.

When I look at nature in any form I feel a sense of completely immersed into it. There is feeling of inner peace and joy that settles into my equilibrium. I just want my brushes to capture that moment. There is an immense pleasure that can be reflected in freshness of  soul.  As an artist you are not allowing the worldly negative distractions to muddle you.

The inner joy translates into the vision that an artist can see. There is lot of other emotions attached to the painting. You want to create a balance of colors, elements, fine strokes on paper or canvas. As an artist, if I am not getting that vision it makes me redo my strokes until I create a balance that I want to gain my vision like a playful sea saw  in a  playground.

I want to celebrate life through painting. I believe happiness and your inner well being makes your sails go in the right direction, not only for yourself but also for people around you. You are focusing on the brighter side of life and discovering yourself.

I often think is painting my way of outlet of  expression of healing- my  moving into a completely different surroundings and changing my thriving career. So that there are never regrets and I can simply see the beauty around me that brings happiness. With each painting I can see myself growing. There is an immense gratitude that I want to express.

Through my thoughts, I hope you can sense and understand the importance of expression and inner well being through passion that cannot be detached.

Artists date with solitude

DSC00464

(Picture taken at Donald Trumph Winery, Virginia)

I absolutely love this shot. There is silence and still calls for being surrounded by warmth of beauty of nature. The tall trees talking to each other casting their shadows as the sun hits the east. The vast wineries in the background are golden in the sunshine taking their time to relax before they show their leaves and fruits in full production.

Reasons artists date with solitude :

1.We get to process our thoughts and see it the way we want to see the world. Rarely do we get to do when we are living in a world surrounded by hustle and bustle of responsibilities and activities. Our thoughts and emotions are trapped and controlled by the web of other thinkers and views around us.

2.We like to make a connection with our right side of brain that is known to bring peace. Subconsciously we build up this connection. Artists can be left in solitude as they are aware the peace that they are building and at the same time expressing themselves through art.

3.Embracing solitude is a skill which can be handled well even when you are social animal. You manage to take out time, it could be for few minutes in a day that reflects your thoughts and expression.

I know, I have lot of responsibilities at home front and work but I have skilled  in finding space for myself I can say 🙂

  •  Thanks for reading my thoughts !!

Your Self Expression Through Art

Today I took the liberty of keeping the sketchbook in lap in my bedroom instead of my studio. It meant replenishing the inner urge of expression and freedom of thoughts through art.  I used charcoal as a medium for throwing my thoughts of the landscape I saw two days ago.

Sketching a beautiful healthy horse grazing the dry grass as the snow melted, meant for me the existence of strength and grace of the living form. I am not happy with the clouds in my sketch but it does identify the vast skies and the bounties of nature that we can rely upon for the joys and the moments of wellness. To add some character I felt the need of adding few pine trees far off.

Art is a form of language that an artist uses to express what he feels about the surroundings or thoughts. It is a way of communication with the viewer, no matter what the medium is. Creating art only for the sake of selling can take away the motivation and restricting your self expression. Many times you also feel the need of experimentation that may lead to a beautiful creation of creativity. There is an excitement created with every piece of art, as it stirs the emotion of critique.

Six practices to overcome emotional explosions !

IMG_0921

Everyone goes through varied emotions while living in this world, surrounding themselves by tug of wars between their mind and heart. The more we get wrapped into these tugs there becomes a possibility of mind explosions leading to unhappiness, unrest, conceitedness and impatience. The path leads us to go far away from the glory of peace. How important it becomes to bring in the inner peace to avoid all the emotional explosions. Practice the five rituals that will help you overcome the emotional explosions.

                                                           HOLD THE CANDLE OF LIGHT

  1. Give a pause in your daily routines, closing your eyes and bring your and brain to rest. Make it a relaxing technique. Make your brain free of despair, bring in the kindness and love that you long for yourself and everyone around you. Slow down from the traffic of thoughts  that drive through. You may do this at home or at your work place. While you close your eyes you may hear a clock ticking or someone passing by, but you don’t have to be judgmental. Your goal has to be bringing your mind into relaxed mode without the judgmental thoughts.
  2. Develop a connection with the beauty that surrounds you. It could be nature- the trees, sky, water, flowers, animals and the birds. Appreciate the essence of beauty and be thankful of the gifts surrounding you. Your mind eventually gets into the relaxing mode without any tug of wars of negativity and explosive mind.
  3. Develop a morning ritual of positivism. Let your mind be filled with positive thoughts from the start of the day, leaving all the negativity and spreading the positive vibes. Train your brain to listen to good thoughts from your heart. Greet your family members at home with smile. Smile the people you may meet on way to work like to coffee server at the drive through window. Be courteous to people around you. The happiness falls in place and your mind is not exploded.
  4. Develop a passion that becomes the food for your soul.  Your mind is relaxed and leads to disconnection from the emptiness that you may gather from the negativity in your mind and heart. Passion could be art, physical activity, cooking, singing, reading, writing or anything that brings that connects to your inner self. The feeling of emotional wars eventually fade in the air, bringing in peace.
  5. Be organized at home and work. De clutter your space and let the positive energies flow. Your mind will be relaxed with clarity and there will be order of thought. It will prevent the explosions of impatience and the negativity.
  6. Talk to your loved ones and release your thoughts. Through away the negativity like a garbage that needs to recycled into positive thoughts. Don’t allow your mind to explode with anger and negativity. Spread love with your good deeds, making your mind calm and satisfied with humility.

Make a habit of these rituals and feel the inner contentment and peace 🙂

Feel the joy in expressing !

Do you reflect back of the little joys that come your way and bring happiness?

I do ! It is all about to create a continuous vibrancy within you and thanking for the blessings we are surrounded with. The chirping birds, their beautiful form and sounds. Admits the magical soft flurries falling and covering the tree twigs that freshen up my mind. I close my eyes for a few seconds taking a deep breath and again opening to enjoy gifts of nature.

Sequence of watercolour painting : Red Jay

I love seeing these red jays that I miss here in topography where I live in Canada. A reason for me to set out for a long walk in the woods when I visit my sister in Charlottesville (Virginia). The pretty bird fleets with great speed from one tree to tree and one bush to another feeding herself with holly berries as the fluff soft now falls. I try to tag my self with the bird trying to get a closer look but she is too shy and keeps showing off playing hide and seek with me.

The joy that these cardinals bring inspired me to paint and express.

The drive to paint and write !!

Talking about writing that goes well with my painting or a quote gives me a deep sense of satisfaction. On one of my vacations as I sat by a large window in Charlottesville, enjoying the beauty of woods I wrote and painted:

IMG_6524

“Deep in the woods, with every thumped footstep.

The golden leaves rustled, breaking the natures silence.

Sun rays pierced through the trees and sparkled the fallen leaves.

The pine cones are joyous

That make me whistle and sing “

No matter where you are, at your home, in your studio or at vacation you see beauty in little things that drive you to compose and make more. Your ideas begin to bubble big. I put lot of my time in thinking especially when I am composing a little illustration to go with my quote or a poem I have written. There is abundance of joy and you devote your time into it.
