Flower Lady on The Street

IMG_5045 When I work my brushes to strokes, I want to create a statement. I painted this flower lady whom I saw by a street in Old Havana and she left a lasting impression. She looked relaxed piping her Cigar. I wanted to capture her traditional dress she wore- yellow silken long dress with a blue head gear. She seemed happy talking to passers by and carried a basket full of flowers and a musical instrument. What a charm she had !!. Painted in watercolours (Winsor and Newton pigments on Arches paper (100 % cotton). Size – 11×6.5 inch. Please leave a comment if you like 🙂 will be appreciated !! Waiting Flower Girl

IMG_5026

In Havana, a pretty flower girl was seen in her traditional dress, waiting for customers and tourists who would be willing to pay her some money for a picture they took. She stood waiting at the center of square in Havana. What a lovely long dress she wore bright red in colour that would draw anyone’s attention. A head gear that completed the attire and held a flower basket on one arm and a Spanish fan on the other side to beat the scorching heat.

Painted the “Wating Flower girl’ in watercolous- Winsor and Newton pigments on Arches paper (100 % cotton). Size – 8×11 inch.

Ride through Cardenas

IMG_5019

The beauty of reflecting on a piece brings back memories. It also creates appreciation for regions and people around in this world. During the recent Cuba tour I and my daughter went on a sugarcane plantation trip which included a fun XX century steam train ride and sightseeing around Cardenas. As the steam train zipped through the villages, the simplicity of people was visible. Kids with their innocence gazed at the train carrying tourists passing by. I wanted to capture the scene as we passed through the villages in this painting. The variety of flora made me sing the ‘song of beauty’ that I got an opportunity to admire.

Painted this in watercolours on Arches paper (100% cotton) with Winsor and Newton pigments. Size- 10.5×5.5 inch.

Havana Street

Havana Street

One of the best things in old Havana are the streets with colourful buildings and its Classic cars that people like to flash around. These have been in the country before 1950’s and can be seen in flashy colours. My todays painting was in acrylics- ‘Havana Street’ size- 20 x 30 inch. My focus here was to capture the essence of my travel and the wonderful time I had in Havana. Also I wanted to create texture and bring the brightness in the canvas.
